Annual Colloquium 2019

This year, the IGDK Annual Colloquium will take place on Monday, 18th and Tuesday, 19th November 2019 in the Hotel am alten Park in Augsburg.
Attendance is compulsory for all IGDK doctoral students (funded and associated).

The goals of the annual colloquium are as follows:
  • to give doctoral students the possibility to present their results, and get feedback from PIs and postdocs involved in the IGDK in a friendly environment
  • to give all members of the IGDK the opportunity to get an overview of current scientific activities within the IGDK
  • to offer time and space for informal scientific exchange between the members of all IGDK locations

The Annual Colloquium will start with lunch at 12:30 on Monday, 18th November and end at approx. 15:00 on Tuesday, 19th November 2019. Here is the detailed agenda.

Mathematics in Industry Mini-Workshop @ Uni Graz 2019

The IGDK in Graz is organising a mini-workshop on the theme "Mathematics in Industry" on Friday, October 18th from 13:00 - 17:00 (Uni Graz, HS 11.02).

The talks (and a coffee break) will provide an interesting insight into four different examples of mathematics and its role in improving industrial processes. The workshop targets all interested students, in particular of master and PhD level as well as any interested mathematician or scientist.

The “IGDK Summer Workshop 2019” organized for and by graduate students will take place at the Bundesinstitut für Erwachsenenbildung in Strobel, Wolfgangsee, Austria from September 8 to September 13, 2019.

Workshop on Mathematicians in Industry 2019

The “Workshop on Mathematicians in Industry 2019” organized by IGDK 1754 will take place at Hotel Bayerischer Hof in Freising, from March 31 to April 01, 2019.

In this workshop, former PhD students who graduated in IGDK 1754-related areas, share their experience with e.g.

  • their current work in industry and the mathematical content of their work,
  • their decision-making process for a career in industry,
  • the application process.

The “Workshop on Numerical Methods for Optimal Control and Inverse Problems 2019” will take place at the TU Munich from March 11th - 13th, 2019.

Frontiers of Uncertainty Quantification in Engineering (FrontUQ)

The GAMM Activity Group on Uncertainty Quantification organizes an outreach workshop "Frontiers of Uncertainty Quantification in Engineering (FrontUQ)" from 6-8 September 2017 in Munich, Germany.

This workshop brings together mathematicians and engineers working in Uncertainty Quantification. The goal is to create a forum for academic and industrial researchers working on theoretical and practical aspects of uncertainty quantification and its application to different engineering fields, e.g. civil, mechanical, aerospace engineering and material science. The workshop will have the following focus areas: Rare events and reliability, Inverse problems and Bayesian analysis, and Optimization under uncertainties.

Workshop for female master students 2015

The “Workshop for female master students 2015” organized by IGDK 1754 will take place at Bildungszentrum Freising, Kardinal-Döpfner-Haus in Freising, from April 13 to April 14, 2015.
In this workshop the research training group IGDK 1754 will introduce its research and doctoral program to female master students.

Members of IGDK 1754 will share their experience regarding

- the application/decision making process for a Phd program
- specific opportunities of IGDK 1754 for its doctoral candidates
- their scientific work
- and answer individual questions

Workshop on Mathematics in Industry 2015

The “Workshop on Mathematics in Industry 2015” organized by IGDK 1754 in cooperation with the KFU's department on 'Modeling and Simulation' will take place at KFU in Graz, Austria, on March 25, 2015.

In this workshop, experts from local industry and industry-related research
- present their work area and their work,
- show how mathematics is hidden in products and developments,
- assess the value of their mathematics studies for their daily work.

Symposium and Winter School on Simulation and Optimization of Extreme Fluids 2014

The “International Symposium on Simulation and Optimization of Extreme Fluids” will take place at Internationales Wissenschaftsforum (IWH) in Heidelberg from November 10 to November 12, 2014.

Subsequent to the symposium the “Winter School on Simulation and Optimization of Extreme Fluids” will take place at Interdisciplinary Center for Scientific Computing (IWR) in Heidelberg from November 13 to November 14, 2014.

Lecturers are Volker Schulz (University of Trier) and Thomas Wick (RICAM, Linz).
