Algorithmic aspects of path-following in optimal control

Abstract

Aim of this compact course is to give an introduction into some basic and more advanced techniques in the analysis and algorithms of path-following methods in function space, in particular for optimal control problems.

Starting from the analysis of the homotopy path, we continue with construction and analysis of Newton path-following algorithms in function space, and finally consider concepts for their implementation with the help of adaptive finite elements.
